What constructive feedback could look like

Show us the commitments, not just the projections

I could support this project if the public can see the expected permanent jobs, tax revenue, water use and power demand in one place—and then compare those estimates with actual results after opening. A public dashboard would turn promises into something the community can verify.

Put local hiring and training in writing

The strongest case would include measurable local benefits: apprenticeships with area schools, interviews for qualified local workers, Wisconsin-based contractors where practical and regular reporting on permanent jobs. Specific commitments would do more to build support than broad claims about economic growth.

A clear agreement could earn public trust

My concern is not the idea of a data center by itself; it is what happens if costs or impacts exceed the estimates. Public utility data, defined limits, a way to investigate complaints and enforceable responsibility for unexpected community costs would make the proposal much easier to evaluate—and potentially support.

How community feedback works

Support, opposition, uncertainty and questions are all welcome. To prevent spam and keep the forum useful, our moderation staff reviews each post and reply before publication. Moderation is based on relevance, respectful discussion and privacy—not agreement with an opinion.

Explain your view. Link to sources when making factual claims. Avoid personal attacks, threats, private information about others, advertising and repeated posts.

Public posts show your chosen display name and text. No account or email address is required. Visitor display names are self-chosen and identities are not verified. Responses labeled “Data Rapids staff response” are published by the moderation team. Publication is not an endorsement or a fact-check, and this forum is not a poll.

Submitted text cannot be edited or withdrawn by its author. Staff can publish or decline a submission and remove a published post. To correct something, submit a new post or reply that explains the correction. Forum comments are not submitted to the City or entered into its official hearing record.
